MedQuest College is pleased to welcome Dr. James Davis as the Campus Director for Lexington, KY!

James M. Davis, Ed.D., has extensive and diverse professional service as a teacher, counselor, program coordinator, educational consultant, school principal, and college professor.  Dr. Davis’s servant leadership style and passion for making a difference in the lives and futures of students has provided him the opportunity to work with students across eastern and central Kentucky.  His mantra is #EveryStudentMatters and he expects that all students can set and achieve many of their goals given quality instruction and support services. Today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders and James believes that we must prepare students and adults to be successful in their respective personal, college, and career endeavors. 

James earned a doctoral degree in educational leadership and policy studies, has K-12 school principal certification, holds a master’s degree in educational psychology, and a bachelor’s degree in psychology. He has served on numerous program advisory committees, task forces, and working groups across the K-20 spectrum. He has worked in both public and private K-12 schools, two-year community and technical colleges, as well as four-year colleges and university settings. James has presented at various conferences and delivered numerous professional development workshops. He has been recognized for his work serving at-risk, low-SES, and first-generation youth.

Dr. Davis was elected twice to serve as President of the Upper Cumberland Counseling Association in 2001 and 2009, and he received Counselor of the Year honors from his counseling peers in 2003. He received the Diamond FACET Award for excellence in student services in 2009 and was recognized with a citation from the Kentucky Senate recognizing his leadership in the counseling field in 2009. James was selected as the Founding Principal of the Laurel County Schools Center for Innovation in 2014. He was recognized by the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) for excellence in educational leadership and innovation in 2019. James was commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel for his significant contributions made to the field of education in 2019. James promotes the tenets of Positive Psychology and believes that mindfulness and a positive oriented personality disposition increases self-esteem, self-efficacy, and self-actualization with all leading to higher levels of happiness and fulfilment.
